How to become a member

Step one

Alternative pathways

If you are a member of a professional body in which CPA Australia has a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) with, you may be eligible for either full CPA status or exemptions from the CPA Program - professional level. Read about our international affiliations for more information and to find out how to apply through an MRA.

Step two

Submit supporting documentation as outlined in your automated assessment response email. Please note, if you have just finished your final subject this semester and are still waiting on your official transcripts, you can still apply for a conditional enrolment. For more information go to How can I apply for conditional enrolment?

Step three

Wait for CPA Australia to contact you with your assessment result. This will be about 10 working days from when we receive your supporting documentation (this may be longer in peak times). You will not be able to activate and enrol into any subjects until you have received an assessment result.

There are two paths you might take as part of step three:

Option one:
You are required to complete further study to meet core knowledge requirements

Option two:
You are eligible to become an Associate member and enrol into the CPA Program professional level

  1. Activate your foundation level account online
  2. Enrol into CPA Program - foundation level subject(s) with CPA Australia:
  3. Enrol into foundation level exams with external exam provider Pearson VUE
  1. Activate your Associate membership account online and pay membership fees.
  2. Enrol into CPA Program professional level subject(s):
